Firehouse Kitchen® features real life firefighters doing one of the things they do best, cooking! Fire Departments all over the country will present their best cooks each and every week, making great meals right in their own firehouses.
Imagine cooking for a large group of people, on a fixed budget with the threat of leaving your meal at any given time to respond to emergencies. Not even Emeril or Bobby Flay have to deal with that.
Firehouse Kitchen gives us a look into the daily life and routine of firefighters everywhere. We may not all run into burning buildings, or respond to medical emergencies, but we all love to cook and eat. We will go on calls, shop in local stores for our ingredients, hang out at the fire station for the day, and have a great time doing it.
This website offers you a chance to grab recipes from the show, find out more about the fire service, and get the inside scoop on Firehouse Kitchen. For firefighters, you can apply for your fire department to become a part of the series or email a fire safety tip or fun fact, along with your name and your department, and we will feature it during the show.
Every episode of Firehouse Kitchen provides an opportunity for a different charity to benefit as well. We will make a donation to the charity of choice for the department we are visiting.
They live together, work together and cook together. Don't you wonder what firefighter's lives are like at the station and what they are making for dinner? America is fascinated by its firefighters, and here's a chance to find out what really goes on.
Some of the best food in the country comes from the unique kitchens of America's firehouses. Just like the family at home these men and women will center their day around their meal, from shopping, preparing and eating together. All of this is interrupted constantly, of course, by the need to respond to emergencies. This provides a challenge unique to firehouse chefs. Imagine if Emeril had to leave his recipe for several hours and then pick up the pieces and finish that meal.
Firefighters also have the insiders look at what happens in the city they protect. They know everything from the finest restaurants to unique hole in the wall specialty joints. Not only can you get the low down on what really happens in the firehouse, from the jokes, stories and daily routines, but you can also get the scoop on what really happens in the city all the way from LA to New York.
The show is hosted by Steve Sprague ~ a very fit and funny fireman's fireman who knows his way around a kitchen and firehouse. Each week he will set out to introduce you to a new firehouse chef in a different city and fire department across the country. In a fun paced format, you will be able to meet real firefighters and get a snapshot of their unique daily lives and that of the citizens and cities they serve. You will get to ride along with these firefighters, shop with them, be witness to practical jokes, hear about the funny stories and crazy calls they have responded too and oh yeah!, pick up some great recipes that will be unique to that part of the country.
