Information taken from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District website.

"The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District provides services through 42 stations and 750 uniformed and support personnel to nearly 600,000 people in a 417 square mile area. Metro Fire represents 16 predecessor fire agencies. Some of these fire agencies were founded in the early twenties to provide fire protection in remote parts of the County.

The varied demographics of the District provide opportunity for its personnel to respond to emergencies in rural, suburban and urban settings. The wide diversity of emergency incidents require firefighters to be proficient in wildland fire fighting, structural fire fighting, crash fire rescue, technical rescue, swift water rescue, hazardous material mitigation, and paramedic medical services.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District "METRO FIRE" continues to provide the best quality fire protection, fire prevention, fire safety education, emergency medical aid, and other emergency response services."

Helpful Hints for Chef Selection and Recipes

Selecting a Firehouse Chef:

Kitchen Savvy
They do not need to be a professional chef, but a good working knowledge of cooking terminology and knowing their way around a kitchen is a must.
Personality
This is an entertainment piece, using firefighters that are not shy, can tell stories while they cook and are not afraid to interact with the host will all help to create a fun atmosphere with the show.
One or more will work
This can be a team effort, it is up to the department to decide on an individual, or team that will do the cooking.
The Station
Whichever station you feel best represents your department should be chosen. We would love to have a station with character and history. A large brand new kitchen is not necessary for the show. Your chef may be very comfortable in their old kitchen in their house, use it and it will be great.
